The website for self educators

It has been said that “He who teaches himself has a fool for a master” I dissagree

With hindsight I can look back over my own 10 years of state education as a child between five and fifteen years of age with much criticism of the methods at the time in the 60’s. Back then as I look back it seems to me that there were very few teachers who were not judging pupils by there appearance and where they came from. today. I witnessed for myself the way we were treated just because our parents had fallen on hard times due to the de industrialisation of the time, many of us were sent to school without a school uniform and I can not help feeling judged that because you were poor you were also stupid. That hindsight is only a reflection of opinion based on how things have changed since then. Changes were happening of course but education is so much more than attending School, doing homework and learning things parrot fashion. And I am very proud that one of my Daughters received her Degree in Mathematics and Statistics From the University of Glasgow.

learning started for me after my initial School years and has never stopped. It has been said that “he who teaches himself has a fool for a master.” I disagree. I believe self teaching has a part to play in creating a better society. Thomas Jefferson said “Knowledge is power” the main message is that he who has knowledge has greater control over his own life. You to can take that power through self taught knowledge.

In teaching yourself additional skills you are building that knowledge which in turn will benefit you in your Personal and business life and enable you to profit from that knowledge in many ways.
